Make time for yourself

So, we may not be able to go to this happy place above every time we're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, but there are a bunch of other things you can do to make yourself feel relaxed and less anxious about the things you have to get done.

Our Packed in days

We are constantly working under a deadline. Be it at work where you are given a task to complete by the end of the day or university where you countdown the days until your assignment is due. There's always something we have to work towards. This isn't always a bad thing, but we can forget to give ourselves our own time where we don't give ourselves a deadline and simply relax instead.

Ways to relax your own way

  1. Head to the gym, chuck on your favourite tunes and release your stress. Whether you're burning some calories on the treadmill or doing a yoga or pilates class, give yourself the time to focus on your body and you'll instantly feel more relaxed and ready to do the work needed to be done
  2. Catch up with a friend. Nothing like seeing your friends and discussing anything and everything over a meal or dessert. It's so easy to become caught up and busy in our own lives, that we don't make time for our mates. Make sure you do, social interaction is healthy and will get you out of the house
  3. Take up a hobby. Try boxing, head to the driving range to release some stress or join a team sport like netball or soccer. It'll take up a few hours out of our week, but it is well worth it. 
  4. Try cooking and baking to expand your skills. There are tonnes of videos on youtube and blogs teaching new skills and publishing new recipes. Try some of these out. You'll not only have time to relax, but appreciate the ingredients and preparation that goes into food.

There's a myriad of things you could do to relax, it's whatever makes you feel relaxed and less worried about your deadlines. Choose something that you enjoy or challenge yourself to learn something new. Whatever it is, give yourself personal time.
